The Eindhoven-based designers, among whom Dutch Invertuals, Piet Hein Eek, Kazerne, Kiki&Joost, Ontwerpduo/Aptum and Sectie C, organise Design Open to offer collectors, professional media and design professionals (e.g. producers, labels, buyers, interior designers, architects, museums and galleries) the opportunity to view new work and visit several design locations in one day. Interested parties can schedule an appointment by invitation.
If the second pilot of Design Open succeeds, the first was at the end of October, the initiative will be carried out about six times a year. The designers emphasize that it is not their intention to grow into an organisation, but that they merely intend to connect their professional networks by sharing a date, opening hours and floor plan. It goes without saying that all the locations comply with the COVID-19 measures prescribed by the government, such as the maximum number of people permitted, 1.5-metre distance and the required hygiene.
Being in contact with users and clients is important for our work. Through Design Open we create the opportunity to show our work and make acquisitions - Mats Horbach
