Inspiration

What does it mean to have an uterus for your entire life? What complaints, discomfort, and pain can it cause? The statistics on the number of people who suffer from having a uterus are significant, so why is it so rarely discussed?

With these questions in mind, we started talking, reading, researching, and engaging with gynecologists and scientists. Rosanne created illustrations, and Anna built a world around them. The result is an installation that offers an accessible way to explore the lesser-known, shadowy aspects of the uterus.

Dialogue

To spark a fruitful dialogue and foster more openness, the installation also has an interactive component where visitors can share their emotions, stories, and wishes. Additionally, we will take to the streets, partly dressed in a uterus suit, to engage in conversations with both people who have a uterus and those who don't. Because that's what's most important: sharing with one another to create greater awareness and understanding.

Driven By Purpose

Baarmoedergeheimen is part of the exhibition Driven by Purpose, organized by Driving Dutch Design—a networking and professional development program created by BNO, the Dutch Design Foundation and Stichting Stokroos. Anna Musch and Rosanne Martens were both selected for this program last year, marking the starting point of their collaboration. Visiting this group exhibition offers a unique opportunity to see a cross-section of contemporary Dutch design.
