Normally the XXL outdoor advertising banners are recycled after being on view for one certain period but studio mo man tai asked themselves - why not postpone that process and breathe a new life into the "background" of a past campaign by (re-)using the same fabric for another message?
Re-use redefined
For the ‘Re-campaign’ project, studio momantai set out to extend the use of the huge pieces of heavy duty monomaterial PET fabric and - before they are eventually 100% recycled - reuse them for new/other ‘campaigns’/messages and applications.
We laid the foundation by carefully selecting enormous banners that had an impressive original size of 18 x 46 metres and covered complete building facades. After some experimenting with the heavy duty fabrics and deliberately cutting those to size, they already created unique panels with visually appealing, pixelated details and colour gradients.
For the installation at our studio they intend to use these large pieces of fabric to create a new colourful installation were the visitors can walk through and enjoy a visual and mindful experience.
Through layering, playing with volumes, colour contrasts and laser cut graphics, they will draw attention to new themes that deserve a "campaign". For one they will create a variety of pillars (made with the fabrics) …. and we want to invite the discussion around the theme: PILLARISATION.
