Lamps that subdivide like trees, glassware that illuminates without electricity, glowing lines in a space: the fantastic world of APTUM emerges from the collaboration and chemistry between Tineke Beunders and Nathan Wierink.
Adaptable
APTUM means adaptable. And that's how Tineke and Nathan work. Again and again, they look at their existing collections from a new perspective: a totally different space, new insights, changing circumstances. So their lighting designs evolve with an expression tailored to each new situation: colourful and chaotic or sober and geometric.
Go on a tour of Aptum's studio and workshop, and get an insight into their intuitive working methods. From sketches and scale models to different variations of their lighting designs. ‘In the Light of’ reflects their dedication to craftsmanship, technical expertise, and the quest for a touch of magic.
Collaborations
Aptum consciously seeks collaborations with creatives from other disciplines.Together, they experiment with all forms of creativity, inspiring each other to push far beyond the boundaries of their own field of work. This year, Aptum is combining flowers and sound with lighting together with Orchid Netherlands and Studio Vocum.
Previous designs were created with graphic artist Marije Vermeulen, design studio Lucas & Lucas, patisserie Pinkie, jewelry brand The Boyscouts, animation studio Postnew, designer Femm, and light artist Studio Tom. All designs from the APTUM X collection can be seen during Dutch Design
Week at ‘In the Light of’.
