This project showcases the work of a dozen Ecuadorian creators, curated by CASA KIKI, an Ecuadorian cultural management platform, NC / Interior Architecture, and the Ministry of Culture of Ecuador. It’s a space to explore design where craftsmanship and art melt with creative processes.
Crafting Ecuador's Legacy: A Fusion of Tradition and Design
We want to tell Ecuador's story through its design. As a multicultural country with millenary techniques, Ecuador has always embraced noble materials such as wool, wood, ceramics, toquilla straw, and chambira. These materials have preserved a culture of craftsmanship, where each piece is created with care, by hand, and with love.
Our goal is not to reinvent design but to shed light on the processes that form the essence of these objects in Ecuador. These processes honor the natural cycle of materials and the people involved, ensuring that the journey is as meaningful as the final product. The pieces on display preserve ancient techniques while adhering to modern design standards.
This exhibition connects various techniques, honoring their creators, processes, methodologies, and cultural identity. You will explore Ecuador’s cultural diversity through its artisans, artists, materials, textures, and techniques, all rooted in creation where process and time play a fundamental role.
