Secret Spaces – Textile Architecture

Changing Shapes — © Svenja Lühr

Teresa Pape is a textile designer and MA graduate from HAW Hamburg in Germany. Her Project "Secret Spaces“ explores the possibilities of multilayered weaving and how through its flexible yet sturdy characteristics it can open new possibilities for interior spaces.

Woven Spaces

The woven objects are crafted in a single piece, revealing their three-dimensional form once removed from the loom. Secret Spaces explores how these multilayered weaves, can make spaces more adaptable to changing needs and life patterns. The objects are created without offcuts and promote sustainable production practices. The project is part of the exhibition Human = Non Human at the Kazerne. Visitors are invited to explore the poetic installations where art, architecture and textiles merge, while reflecting on how we use the space we inhabit.

About Teresa Pape

Teresa Pape is a recent MA textile graduate from HAW Hamburg with a background in fashion design. She is passionate about developing innovative 3D textiles for interior spaces, challenging traditional weaving by exploring its limitations and possibilities. Teresa focuses on creating objects with minimal modifications, often using leftover yarn from the textile industry. This approach is sustainable and highlights the often underestimated strength and independence of textiles.
