Welcome to the future! A city inspired by Artificial Intelligence.

A smart city based on AI systems collects data about the city's infrastructure, its inhabitants, and users. The goal is to improve city functions, efficiency, and urban life. But according to which ideal and which principles?

In a smart city, all data comes together and is processed in one place, represented by the data center in the model. Using machine learning and other techniques, findings and solutions are formulated with the intention of optimizing the city and its usage. But do we really want this in the way it is happening now?

The model presents the relationship between four themes: smart systems, smart mobility, smart surveillance, and smart environment. We depict the city of today and the near future in the model. Studio Bas Sala fully developed the model, from the initial concept to the production of the model, during the period 2020-2021. It is now being shown in the Netherlands for the first time.

The interactive installation was part of the Artificial Intelligence exhibition, shown in:
- DASA Dortmund, Germany (2021-2022);
- Parque de las Ciencias, Granada, Spain (2022-2023);
- Technisches Museum, Vienna, Austria (2023-2024).
