N01 pilar wax sculpture

This wax sculpture is inspired by the monumental ancient T-slabs of the Göbekli Tepe archeological site in Turkey, where they where put in a composition to create a place for humans to worship the gods. This is a re-interpretation of these monumental T-slabs, to create a formal language that is rather a-typical to candles, and a research in balance - how assymetrical can you go before balance is lost?

N02 umbral sidetable/stool

Umbral represents a liminal state; a state of transition.
Emptiness does not equal nothingness. it brings enhanced conciousness.
The formal language of the object is descending in search for the earth, while a combinatorial play of mass and void seems to communicatie something going on inside: a building or a demolishing of some sort.
Umbral is about ‘the place in between’, seemingly awaiting what will happen next, but has not yet occured.

Liminality as a concept connects to the basic human condition of ephemerality, the notion that nothing lasts forever.

Yet this object is trapped trough its materiality,
unable to build up, nor demolish itself.

Perpetually.

N03 mesa baja/lowtable

a research of balancing different masses, inspired by the asymmetrical houses of Ancestral Puebloans. The object is different on all sides, each view provides another perspective, to create a consciousness about the object. The lines and veins of the travertine are kept untreated on purpose, to let the minerals speak for themselves, instead of being silenced.
