What happens if we name and address the city dweller as the true owner of the public spaces of the city?
Can we create the public space that makes people happy?
Olifantenpad CS experiments with a design process with the city dwellers at the helm. The design tools we develop are based on innovative technologies and insights from environmental psychology.
People will design their own public space in VR, with the help of a toolbox filled by designers and experience firsthand the effect of their choices. Afterwards, the different designs created this way, will be tested with Neurofeedback to find the design that’s best on both a conscious and a subconscious level.
Thus we base our ultimate design decisions on the measurable experience of a diversity of urban citizens.
Can we create the public space that makes people happy? During the WHAT IF LAB we will dive into this question with the visitors of the DDW.
We will use the Assendelftplein in Rotterdam as our canvas.
