This project uses old crafts in an innovative way. A collection of accessories is presented abstractly by using the inlay technique in a new way. The stones are breaking through the surface of the wood.

Craftmanship

This project imagines a new interpretation to classic craft and decorative techniques. The technique of stone inlay and stone carving are the techniques are highlighted with these pieces. Minimalist in its design, the rounded shapes play with light and shadow. The pieces of the collection are placed in a calm composition that reflects the meditative crafts used to make the pieces. The collection is presented as a three-dimensional still life inspired by the ancient craft of stone inlay in a panel made out of pine. The stone pieces are placed into the sheet of wood only show rounded shapes on the front of the piece, creating a still life depicting a stack of rocks. On the backside of the still life the mechanics of the pieces are shown.

Sustainable consumption

The collection is made out of discarded marble and stone, creating sustainable design that promotes craftsmanship. This collection and presentation will let consumers experience a product in a new way. By creating a different experience around consumption, patterns can be broken and a space of awareness and appreciation for material and craft is created.
