Dress Code is a collection of garments showcasing techniques only possible with 3D printing. The collection features 3D printing fabric-like textiles, 3D printing paillettes, 3D printing on Fabric, 4D printing, 3D printing a ready-to-wear garment, and 3D printing accessories and footwear.

Design

This collection takes 3D printing technology ‘to the streets’. Through the design of wearable pieces, the goal is bridge the gap between the technological and the current fashion status quo and showcase the world applications 3D printing within the fashion industry.

Architectural ornamental blocks were the point of inspiration for the patterns, textures and silhouettes of this collection. Creating custom ornamental details has little to no limit when it comes to 3D printing, and this collection brings that to light.

Materials

Part of the benefits of 3D printing is the wide range of materials that can transform into filaments. Some of the materials used to create this collection were recycled plastic, from the footwear industry and recycled rubber tires. Others are plant-based, bioplastics, and even a purifying CO2 absorbent material.

Methods

Techniques like 3D printing fabric 3D printing fabric-like textiles, 3D printing custom paillettes, 3D printing on Fabric, 3D printing a ready-to-wear garment, and 4D printing were all used to create these garments. These techniques incoorporate the ornamental block language at different scales and in custom ways that are only possible through 3D printing.
