This project is a series of objects that constitute an indoor playground for the domestic space. Room for play aims to ease play in daily life for children and adults.
Home as a playground
Play is an evolutionary tool for learning, adaptation and resilience. A growing body of scientific research also confirms the importance of play not only in childhood development but in the mental health of adults. Yet, the ways of interacting and playing with our domestic furniture and environments is limited for adults, as Alexandre Varnier became acutely aware of during the lockdown. Inspired by his love for parkour and climbing, and childhood memories of home being a playground, he developed a series of objects that can be added to existing furniture and spaces to open up the possibilities of play.
