(Archive) Kill yourself with love

How do we relate to each other and ourselves? And how do we deal with heavy subjects?

my mind is filled with questions and realizations about this world, our society and our own self-awareness
I want to share these throughout the future through my work and let the work be a conversation starter about the subjects I find the most interesting which are: Death, love & religion.

Deadly heart

This is based on my belief around the subject love. It also took some inspiration from the medieval weapon called a morning star.
My opinion on love is that you should never start loving anyone else before you start loving yourself. The balance in a healthy relationship needs to be based around self-respect, if not love can actually hurt more than needed.
The reference used in this case is a weapon because the responsibility love can carry is quite a big one.
To sum it up I would say love yourself first completely, before accepting other people into your heart.

''NMYWD'' tables

The text ''nothing matters, you will die" could be a harsh message but in the end it is a fact. For me this mentality means that I can worry less and enjoy more.
However this does not mean we do not need to take some things in life serious and in consideration. But maybe we need to realize which things are the most important and worry less about things that we can not control.
We will die in the end, without stuff or money or status, just enjoy life and find out what your fascinations are and the things that make your life enjoyable.

The praying bench & mirror

This design is based on the idea that when you look into the mirror, you will have a halo
(a representation of spiritual character through the symbolism of light.)
And it will seem as if you yourself are a holy being.
To give this concept more function I decided to pair it with a prie-dieu
(a praying bench).
Together they form a functional object which forces the user to reflect and pray to his or her self. Doing so will be confronting but hopefully also will be a moment of self-belief.
Take your doubts about yourself away by looking at yourself as a define being.
Be your own god, not in a narcistic way but to have less doubts & insecurities.
