Accessibility

Every year, we learn and take steps towards making Dutch Design Week as accessible as possible for everyone. This page will provide information about wheelchair accessibility, low-stimulus spaces, and quieter times. Under the ‘Do you have a question?’ section, you can find where to go if you have any queries.

Wheelchair Access

Wheelchair Accessibility

For each programme component, you can find out if a location is fully wheelchair accessible*, partly wheelchair accessible**, or not wheelchair accessible. This information can be found in the information column on the left side of the page of the specific location/exhibition.

View the locations

*Fully wheelchair accessible: entrance without thresholds, a threshold of a maximum of 2 cm high, or a ramp. All spaces are accessible without height differences of 2 cm or more or have been made accessible with ramps and threshold aids. The passageways and walkways are at least 90 cm wide.

**Partly wheelchair accessible: entrance without thresholds, a threshold of a maximum of 2 cm high, or a ramp. Most spaces are accessible without height differences of 2 cm or more or have been made accessible with ramps and threshold aids. The passageways and walkways are at least 90 cm wide.

Lowered Ticket Counter

A lowered ticket counter is available at the ticket sale in the Klokgebouw.

Bars, such as the food trucks and The Bar at the Ketelhuisplein, and other counters are not lowered.

Complimentary tickets for companions

Each visitor in a wheelchair with a valid DDW ticket can collect a complimentary DDW wristband for one companion at the following locations:

Wristbands for companions are not available online.

Accessible Toilets

During Dutch Design Week, accessible toilets can be found at various locations in Eindhoven, such as:

  • Area 51
  • Eindhoven Library
  • Design Perron
  • Domusdela
  • Evoluon
  • Heuvel
  • Kazerne
  • Ketelhuisplein
  • Klokgebouw
  • Microlab Hall
  • Piet Hein Eek
  • Sectie-C
  • Stadhuis
  • The Social Hub Eindhoven
  • Van Abbemuseum

For other locations, this information can be found in the information column on the left side of the page of the specific location/exhibition.

No care and changing room (with a hoist) is available.

Low-Stimulus Spaces and times

Low-Stimulus Spaces

The Klokgebouw provides a low-stimulus room for those sensitive to sensory overload. It is a quiet place to unwind and find calm. If you wish to use this room, please visit the information desk in the entrance hall (Klokgebouw 50).

Please note: the low-stimulus room is also used as the breastfeeding room. If someone uses it for breastfeeding, the space may be temporarily unavailable as a low-stimulus room.

Low-Stimulus Times

While there are no specific low-stimulus times during Dutch Design Week, Monday tends to be a quieter day at most locations.

Keep in mind that larger venues, such as the Design Academy Eindhoven’s Graduation Show and the Klokgebouw, are generally busier throughout the event.

Please note that triggers for conditions like epilepsy are not always clearly marked at the entrances of exhibitions.

Good to Know

Cultuur Inclusief

If you are unable to buy a DDW ticket due to financial constraints, you can apply through the website of Cultuur Inclusief.

Cultuur Inclusief manages a limited number of discount vouchers for Dutch Design Week. You can read on their website how to qualify for a discount. We, as the organisers of Dutch Design Week, provide the tickets but have no say in the distribution of the discount vouchers.

First Aid

During Dutch Design Week, there is a First Aid post in the Klokgebouw and a mobile team roaming the Strijp-S area.

For all other locations, the staff/organisation of the respective location should be informed. They can handle simple First Aid cases themselves or refer you to the right person.

In case of an emergency, always contact 112.

Assistance Dogs

Dutch Design Week is fully accessible to assistance dogs. The dog must wear a harness that clearly indicates it is an assistance dog.

Breastfeeding Room

The Klokgebouw has a breastfeeding room. If you'd like to use it, please visit the information desk in the entrance hall (Klokgebouw 50).
